Alert: Outbreak of Gastric Flu

Dear Paddlers,

There is an apparent outbreak of gastric flu cases these two weeks amongst a few of our teammates. The virus is highly contagious through saliva from sharing food and drinks. So do avoid sharing drinks during training, especially those who are still recovering. It is strongly advised to bring more water to training so that everyone would be self-sufficient. If you have gastric flu, do avoid caffeine (tea and supplements included), milk (dairy products like cheese), oily, spicy food and citrust fruits (orange, lemons). If your condition is severe, do visit the Polyclinic or your friendly GP. Stay healthy and fit!

PLK News 11/16: Our Pokka-PLK Jersey

Today is an exciting day for Team PLK, because our new jerseys have arrived!

Much has been speculated about the new jersey, whether the design is customized or ready-made, if the color combination is similar to past jerseys. Before we reveal the new PLK Jersey 2016, let us take a trip down memory lane of past jersey designs

2007-2008 - White PLK Jersey

Who could still recall this white piece with red linings? This jersey saw many of the PLK podium finish in the early days. Look how happy our pioneers were, wearing the PLK Jersey proudly! Did you know that the Chinese word contains the acronym PLK? See if you can spot it!

2008-2009 - Black PLK Jersey

Simple and suave. The all-black jersey with red words were the popular design back in the days. The cutting and color accentuate the paddler's physique, and it was a sight to behold during race days.

2010-2012 - Navy Blue Jersey

This navy blue piece saw through many podium finishes such as SRR, SDBF etc. Definitely a good color on our paddlers' tanned skins.

2013 - 2015 - Red Black Jersey

The red black jersey, designed by Sam Ooi, has been the iconic PLK Jersey for 3 years. It saw through many important races which include the Shandong race, Penang Pesta, and SDBF/SRR! Red and black combination was a very playful color match, which brings out the seriousness of the paddlers, with a touch of playfulness.

Co-designed by Maggie Soh and Sam Ooi, the new PLK jersey (blue and white) is similar to Pokka Sportswater (PLK official sponsor for year 2016!). 

It is time to clock some podium finishes with this jersey!

PLK News 10/16: PLK Paddlers and the Children Charity Event

After training, a group of PLK Paddlers gathered in the heartlands of Kovan. There, a children charity event is being organized by the PLK CC and PLK Paddlers had gladly volunteered to be game station masters and mascots.

Throughout the afternoon, kids were running around enjoying all the different stations manned by our paddlers. Various budding singers of all ages came up on stage to give powerful renditions of the latest hits, adding to the joyous atmosphere. Our paddlers took turn to don the mascots, and went around taking pictures with adults, children and even the elderly, giving them a memento of the event to remember.

Halfway through the event, a group of the disabled were invited to sit at the banquet tables as food were served to them. Our mascots went over, shook hands and took photos with them, sharing with them the simplest of joy that one could ever have.

Who says team bonding has to be all socializing?
